Jack Lawton Brown

Jack Lawton Brown 96, peacefully passed from this earthly existence on October 19, 2024 to join his Heavenly Father and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jack graduated from Marlow High School, attended Armstrong College and joined the Army early in his long life.

He was raised Baptist and became a member of St. Luke UMC where he served as an usher and loved meeting with his friends for weekly Bible study. Much later in his life, he became a member of Compassion Christian Church where his love for God grew deeper and stronger. His thirst for knowledge, just like his love for family, never wavered. Thank you to Pastor Drew Humphries for the love and time you spent with Jack.

He is survived by his daughters Cathie Parker (Carlton,Jr.), Jackie Humes (Sam), Jo-Anne Salter (Scott), and one son Keith Brown (Sandra), 8 grandchildren (Jennifer, Carlton, Sarah, Brian, Shiloh, Megan, Madison, and Nicholas), and 11 great grandchildren and 2 on the way and one great-great grandchild.

Jack retired from the US Customs House where he worked as an Import Specialist for 33 years.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday October 23rd at Fox and Weeks Hodgson Memorial Chapel from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral service at 2:00 PM with a family graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens to follow.

The family would like to express a very special thank-you to his amazing care-givers Suzanne Atkinson, Amy Karlewitz, and Tia Cook for the love, care, and dignity shown to Jack and the Brown family during the last several months. Thank you to the team at Hospice Savannah for your wonderful care and compassion as well. May God bless all of you!

Remembrances can be sent to Compassion Christian Church in memory of Jack Brown. John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

A candle has been lit!

My buddy You will be missed but I know you are having a glorious time with your family. Until we meet again Suzanne

Uncle Jack my Dads brother was a very caring and loving father to his family. He would call me from time to time, which meant so much to me, as my Father passed 25 years ago. I love going to Savannah to meet up with for lunch or breakfast. At times I would meet him at his home. We would spend hours together talking about past years and my Dad, our visits always plea-sent. I'd call Uncle Jack for his birthday or sometimes just call to say hello. He was just special and I will miss him.
